It all started in 2017 when I was driving into town to get my morning coffee. I passed by the local maple equipment supplier and became intrigued by the idea of making maple syrup, knowing we had maple trees in our front yard. On the way back home, I decided to stop in and had a long discussion with the store owner regarding the process and equipment required. I decided to make a small investment in 20 maple taps with the intentions of boiling the sap on my kitchen stove. Within a couple of hours of arriving home and installing the taps, I was on my way back to the store to purchase 60 additional maple taps and making a payment on my first evaporator. The first season was a year filled with education and research. I found myself sitting in the freezing rain not sure if the sap would ever transition to syrup. My dad, never losing faith, helped me setup a shelter utilizing an old pickup topper. The next summer I went to work and constructed my first sugar shack and invested in a more efficient evaporator. In 2019 my daughter joined the family and I knew I needed a building that was safer for her be involved in learning the process and helping with the production of maple syrup. With this in mind, I began plans for an expansion. With my son on the way, my father and I made the dream a reality in 2020. While planning for the expansion, I became a licensed producer in the state of Wisconsin, as well as registering with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). I received these certifications in 2021 allowing for the sale of our product in retail stores. The certifications ensure our facility meets the set forth codes and safety standards. Depending on the year we tap between 350 to 500 trees, with the opportunity to add a few more in the years to come. Each year the kids involvement increases while creating lasting memories. We pride ourselves in producing pure filtered maple syrup that is produced from sap gathered from trees on our property. I look forward to meeting you, showcasing our facility, and having you experience our maple syrup!
